Oregon Inlet December 28th afternoon fishing

Got out this afternoon with Rob Powell and crazy Matt.  The waves calmed enough to let us get across the bar.  We slid out and quickly got into a large school of hungry stripers off Nags Head.  We went straight to jigging the light rods and made one 45 minute drift hooking up along the way.  Wish every day was this good.  Thanks everyone!

Merry Christmas from the Outer Banks

Got back out yesterday.  The inlet was a little chewy but the ocean conditions were very calm and comfortable.  We landed fish in Nags Head and in Kitty Hawk yesterday trolling.  We were picking along catching a few and then Fishing Fool Bobby called and said it was real good up towards Kitty hawk and Duck.  We landed a limit and released that many more.  It was a fun day, everyone was catching fish and goofing off with my buddies in other boats just made for a fun time.  Nice to have friends.  There were bites scattered up and down the beach yesterday.  The guys in Rudee got em as well.  Lost today's trip because of the bad weather.  Surprisingly got some good reports of schoolies hanging in that cold water in the Albemarle sound.  So this could be an option as well on the rough days if you would like to cast light jigs to smaller stripers. Giant trout are calling for anyone interested as well.   Hope the weather breaks again so we can get back on em.  Looking forward to jigging them up real soon!   Merry Christmas to everyone and hope you enjoy your families!

Some nice rock fish today!

Merry Christmas from the Outer Banks!

Once again sitting by the fireplace chasing kids.  The rough seas kept us in once again today, physically too rough to get across the bar.  However been on the phone just this morning with several phone calls with guys looking to hop on or make up a trip on a good weather day.  Looks like we already have 4-7 guys lined up to fish.  Shoot me an email if you would like to be on this call list info@rocksolidfishing.com.  Some guys need 24hrs notice, some need a few days, regardless it helps you get on the water for a lot less money when your other buddies cannot because their wives are cracking the whip.  It gets you on the water and gets me out of washing dishes!
I hope everyone is ready and for Christmas and enjoying time with the families.  Merry Christmas!

Check this out!

The Lane party... not scared.  Called yesterday and told them the weather was on the fence. Their choice.  North winds not too hard but you never know.  They were in Buffalo.  They said screw it hopped in the car and charged it.  The ocean was choppy this morning but heck if we were not going to try with guys and gals coming that far to fish.  No report and zero, zero boats looking for rock out of Oregon Inlet.  Weather has been terrible and all this cool weather has had to help drive water temps down and shoot the rock South.  Off we go looking for signs of fish.  We found them nice stripers in Nags Head!  And what do you know 1.5 miles off the beach!!!  No boats in sight except for the trawlers getting theirs 5-7 miles off the beach but somehow, someway these fleeing rock meandered inside the three mile line.  The box filled up with 300lbs of fish and we headed home back to the dock before 1 with our ten fish limit up to 38lbs.  And never saw a boat!!!  Thanks to the Lane party glad you brought the "good luck charm!"  These guys are heading back to Buffalo right now.  Talk about redefining "hardchargers"  You guys kick ass!   Thanks for your support!  If this weather ever settles down...

Big Bluefish Today on the Outer Banks!!!

Been hibernating for over a week guys.  Trips slowed down and the weather has been unfishable with high winds and rough seas.  This afternoon finally back out on the water with Sam Brown.  We ran right outside of Oregon Inlet and there was a large place of big blues working the area!  We had a great time catching these 12-17lb bluefish.  We slid back and tried the shoals for a few passes and the pilings around the bridge but no striper bites.  The cold weather has seemed to stall out that fishery with sounds water temps plumetting.  Well the good news is that all this cold weather seems to be ushering down the stripers from the North!  The rock have been landed three days in a row up North in NC waters!  Capt Ray called me mid day today and told me he was heading back to Oregon Inlet with his limit of 25-35lb stripers!  37 miles up but after this next cold front (one more blow!) and these guys should be alot closer!  Gotta do a all day trip for these!  So after calibrating the couch for well over a week I am excited to get up there on the next pretty weather window!  Thanks to everyone!
Awesome sunset the other day with the Heisman crew, gotta get you in the Christmas spirit!

Happy Halloween and big pumpkin drum!

Today we slipped out looking for the "big ones".  We have hit the big drum up to sixty pounds, breaking fish whitewater with birds on em quite a few times the last few weeks.  We got em. Yesterday we landed some nice stripers to 15 pounds.  We have livebaited a few nice sharks as well.  Another evening we (Rocksolid, Carolina Blue)  ran way down the beach and after 20+(10 each) we decided we had enough. Matt on Southern Run came to where we were fishing and landed a absolute piggy. Gotta burn the fuel to get em. Any red over 27"  has to be released and these fish are running 38-50 inches!  So if you want to take a shot at some worldclass 30-60Lb redfish, lets roll!  So thanks to everyone for fishing call us if you want to hold one of these piggies up!!! Thanks everyone for rebooking your oct. dates for 2011.  Always good idea to book ahead!  Still have some openings left.  Thanks Aaron

Been going hard.

Got the afternoon off so I figured I would get a bunch of pics that I have taken off the camera on the site.  We have been fishing all over the place on the Rock Solid lately.  We have been doing the livebaitng with the light spinners for the abacore and that has been super fun.  The blues have been showing up pretty steady.  The tog have been biting.  We also have been hitting the tasty sheepshead quite regularly catching anywhere from 7-35 a trip! Keeping what we are gonna eat and releasing the rest.  The aj's are still off the beach but they are getting big and mean and hard to stop from getting in the structure.  Surprising we have landed some nice keeper sea bass up to 19 inches.  Have seven keepers mixed in on one trip.  The triggers popped back up to our surprise and they have been gigantors for triggers.  Had many over the 4 pound mark and weighed the biggest yesterday at six lbs!  The bigger croakers and grey trout have been real cooperative on the calmer days when we can get to them.  A few reds, and the stripers have been slow.  Large numbers of speckled trout but they all seem to fall short of the 14 inch keeper mark.  Of course everything will change but is has been good.  Thanks everyone for fishing!

team kickass, we always have fun!
