Another good day on the Carolina Blue. My Pinetown NC crew got it done! We had a full box of legal Rock Fish by 10:00am. There were alot of fish outside the line and alot of dead fish taken away by the Coast Guard,to the tune of 200 bucks per fish! That can add up fast. Guys they will get you. This makes us all look bad and will only help those who want to stop us from doing what we love. Fishing is real good so call us so we can get you hooked up to one of these big Rock. thanks... Capt Ches.

Back out jigging up stripers!

Got to get back out on the water after a spell of bad weather and fog days.  Other than the snatchy inlet the day was great.  Everyone aboard landed stripers jigging soft shads and steel through the striper marks. We landed and released plenty up to forty pounds.   Thanks Guys!

Back about fishing.

Catching up still on some pics over the weeks.  Special props to the Eric Robinson party, day one, one fish came in early, too rough, day two good fishing with fish from 12-28lbs.  Day three.  piggies all we could crank from 25-54lbs!~!  Yep even a double header of 48 and 54lbs (51 inch lenght). That is alot of weight to pull in on one rod.   These fish were released.  These guys had fish from the day before and only took what they needed!
Nice to see this day and age.  Also guys we have had a couple skunks on a couple half day trips.  I tell the guys when they book to book at least a 3/4 or better all day.  I feel crappy for not getting them for you and you are bummed because you went on a boat ride.  If money is tight then lets pair a group up or something to make it work.  If the fish are 15+ miles up or down the beach then not much hope in a half day.  Afternoon bite not much hope for the am trip.  30 miles up the beach, not much hope for the 3/4 day guys.  So book the all day trip get the right weather window and it will be 9 out of 10 high fives!

Washed a bunch to get these piggies!

Trawler kill thousands of stripers at Oregon Inlet

Trawling Debacle

As many of you guys know by reading and seeing the news there was a big striper kill off the outer banks NC.  Thousands of fish found floating dead or dying. No pollution or anything of that nature.   A trawler thought it would be a great idea to drag through  the fish on a busy holiday weekend with disregard to the 150-250 rec boats fishing the area along with many charter captains.  He needed his 50 fish to sell and killed countless others to get them. Farmer of the sea?  He broke no law.  But damn what a stupid law.  So the law was quickly revised to allow a poundage instead of a number quota.  This has been going on for years and years, just nobody seemed to care until this particular day when it was rammed up everyones ass.  I fortunately missed this mishap because this day we were fishing South.  However I did get to see four plus miles of floating and sinking stripers just the day before.  This trail was not witnessed by as many and did not seem to have much affect.  I have also heard of a few other instances just this winter.  Yep this day and age, utter waste and greed seem to hold the future of striped bass populations tettering.   The commercial catch quotas seem to be valid to me it just seems extremely odd no matter how much freight goes up the road the quota never gets filled.  Three winters I whined about the "last buffalo"  well maybe "we" can get it right.
Try to get you more info as it comes along the pipe.  I have had close to fifty calls for concerned clients, fisherman, and people trying to make the right calls.  I will update as needed because this is not my area of expertise and right now I am not sure who to tell ya to call, or who you can call to make a difference.

Way to go Katie Bug and Samantha!

Wow too much to report in one post but here we go.... So I will give it to you in shots of different posts today. Sorry if I give you too many run-on sentences.  Not sure where I gave a last decent report.  Hopefully you guys have been keeping up with the occasional cell phone post.  We overall have had great fishing so far this winter with nice fish landed along the beaches weighing 12-54lbs.  We have landed fish every time on the all day trips.  The half day trips have been much dicey-er.  So I always recommend the longest trip you can go for.  Most of the trips we have been trolling mojo's etc.  Some of the time jigging.  Special thanks to everyone for fishing with us, your business and support is very appreciated!!!  Check out Katie Bug, my little girl, who caught her 1st striper the other day on her first cast with a 2 ounce swimming shad.  Sam came out as well and landed her first striper too!!!!   Hope there are stripers left in the future so more of my little fellas can have the opportunity to catch one!
