SWEET 16!!

Hey guys fished sunday with my buddy Arthur and captain Matt out of Rudde inlet in virginia beach. We had a world class day of cobia fishing! The fish seem to be steaming due south trying to beat this storm and upcoming cold weather. We saw packs of up to 10 fish swimming south! We caught fish on eels bucktails and Arthur just had to bring that topwater plug for some crazy crashes!!! Unbelivable fishing right now, reminds me a bit of hatteras this spring I dont know if we will ever see fishing this good again. The final count was 16 fish with a total of 5 citations. We weighed one fish that went 66 pounds and 58 inches. We also released four others which had to be atleast 55 inches for citations with the two biggest being 65 inches and 61 inches. Hopefully they will make it back next year as monsters. I also fished today, we left out of Rudee inlet around 2 in the afternoon and made it back by 6. The final count was 11, we didnt have any paper work today but boy was it fun. We were heading back in and came across a dark cloud of those guys swimming around and played with them for an hour or so, there were atleast 50 of those guys!! Hopefully I will get some more pictures up from today! We will be back out there tomorow to waaaack some more. We do have a 1 fish limit per person in the VA so hopefully we can get some more of those release citations!! I will get more pics posted tomorow.

Red hott cobia fishing!!

Hey guys sorry I have been so slack the last couple months with the posts. We have been having an awesome summer with limits of cobia, flounder, spade fish, and even getting quite a few release citations on those monster reds!! The cobia fishing the last few weeks has been absolutley amazing!! schools of 5 to 30 cobias are swarming the bay. Right now is the time to gett out there and get those citations. Plenty of big fish, we have been catching fish up to 80 pounds. Half day and 3/4 day cobia trips are welcome. We will have a couple more weeks for these big brown guys before they head back south... waaaay south!

Had to share!

Great fishing continues!!!

The fishing has been great lately.  Gotta get down to the OBX for some fishing.  Call your buddy with a boat, call your Dad take him fishing since you have not in over a year, book a trip, get on the pier, whatever just go fishing!  Yesterday the Meaty party landed six cobia, kept five, triggers, amberjack, and a barracuda!  Today sharks, aj's, 3 cobia,  and some other fish as well.  Check out the last clip as Bellymeat gets out of the way of a green cobia!  Thanks everyone!  Aaron
This was a big jimmy crab now headed to the steamer pot!  yummy

Cobia off Nags Head

Back on the water with the Jenkins crew and these guys must be livin right because they always seem to get em.  Told them looked a little tight to get out in the ocean and they were game for whatever we could find.  Well the swell was big but the inlet was not completely shut out so we went for it.  Man the ocean was alive today bluefish and school after school of bait.  Pack of 10 cobia coming at us and six in the box.  You can never have enough rods ready.  Whacked on some triggers.  Then landed three more cobia!  So nine cobia on the day on a random day in August.  Gotta love the Outer Banks and the fishing we have!  We will take it! Had the Motley crew of Mckenna, Baby Saylor, the Gabester, and my better half Samantha out for an afternoon fishing trip.  Well no fishing but a nice boat ride.
Spoke with Brandon on the Reel High the other night and he was letting me know how good the sightcasting for cobia in the Chesapeake bay has been lately as well.  Off the hook.  So get get off your butt and go fishing before we start talking about stripers all winter!  Thanks everyone for fishing!  Aaron

Triggerfish, Albacore, and cobia on the Outer Banks

The fishing has been staying pretty good lately.  Took today off because the ocean was going to be rough.  Triggers have been real consistent.  You gotta check out the short vid on Kevin hand-lining the triggers.  I guess we will have to break out the fly rod on em next!  Also nice schools of false albacores showed up.  We found a big place of em where the water was flat  with them and caught as many as we wanted.  Not good for eating but great for strip baits and trigger baits.  A few cobia around saw three yesterday and we got one to the boat with the Arnold party.  Thanks everyone for fishing aboard the Rocksolid!

Drum, cobia, and the kids

Fishing continues to be pretty good lately with a few cobia, sharks, nice red drum, and triggers.  The blues and spanish have been biting as well but I have not been fishing for them very much lately.  Yesterday had the opportunity to take 4 out of 5 of my critters tubing along the beach.  I was looking for cobia and they were having a blast bouncing over waves.  I trolling them 15 miles up and 15 miles back along the beach and never raised up one seamonster behind them, ha.  Well we did stop and punish the triggers for 30 minutes and landed a few buckets full.  Thanks to everyone for fishing and I be back on it Thursday.
