We're still here!

Got back from Irene.  Thanks to everyone for the calls and concern. It means alot to have so many friends out there.  Well, no need to be negative, time to move forward and get back to fishing.  Fishing was good prior to the hurricane and I am sure it will be good now as well.  The mullet are already jumping and flapping in the surf in their southern run. The late summer and fall is always great fishing.

Problems:  the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center has been mauled by high storm surge and the docks, finger piers, and fuel tanks have been ruined, so we need a few weeks to get that back into order.  There also has been a new inlet cut below Oregon Inlet that has severed ties with Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Hatteras, Frisco, etc.  We actually will be running folks down there to check out ther property and get them back to their businesses/ homes.  In Kill Devil Hills and  Nags Head I am already seeing tourists coming back down.  We will be running trips out of Thicket Lump Marina, the public access ramp acros from Pirates Cove in Nags Head, and in Kitty hawk.  So we are rigged up.  Ches is gonna be out for a week or so since he is covered up with debris clearing on his tractor helping out the community.  That leaves Matt and myself.

Note to photojournalists & homeowners, our rates for riding around all day and taking pictures would be the same as our fishing rates.  If you want less a expensive rate call around.  There was a local capt just today undercutting by 75%.  Good for him if he can make it at that rate; we cannot and will not.  Trips start out at $375.  Thanks everyone and lets get back to fishing!

We Like The Moon

The moon is very important in fishing. It regulates tides and causes gamefish to become more aggresive. If you go back and look at many world records you can see a correlation of new and full moons and trophy catches. Day off today for the fat capts b day and this little tune has always put a smile on my face so I wanted to share it with you! Thanks everyone for fishing and helping whack fish with us. Congrats to the Chacosky party for landing 14 cobia, 3 gaffers, 10 bailers, and all the 40-55lb red drum in one cinderella story of a fishing trip a few days ago!!!

No more 3/4 day trips

I was asked by the fishing center not to run 3/4 day trips any longer.  Therefore on the Rock Solid out of Oregon Inlet I will only be running 1/2 and all day trips, any evening or night trip will be regarded as a 1/2 day trip.  It has been a great trip for years and years but things change.  For a little more money the all day is the way to go anyway,  but if you still want the popular 3/4 trip it will still be available on the Carolina Blue and the Southern Run.   If policies change in the future I will let you guys know as well.  Thanks so much.  Also feel free to go ahead and book 2012 trips because we are already getting calls and bookings for that as well!

Fishing has been great lately.  We have had some cobia, dolphin, sharks, blues, and triggers really biting.  The water has been 80 degrees and really clear giving us the rare opportunities to catch dolphin 3-7 miles off the beach.  We have also hit some big red drum sightcasting off the beach a few miles as well.  Thanks everyone for fishing and enjoying yourselves!
